The Fuel Characterization Service of ICB uses a series of analytical techniques for the characterization of coal, graphite, coke (from coal and oil), activated carbon, carbon black, carbon fiber, fly ash, solid biofuels, urban waste, sludge, ceramic, steel, catalysts, zeolite, among others following international quality management systems (ASTM,ISO,UNE,EN). For setting up and controlling the characterization techniques used, the Fuel Characterization Service is involved in several proficiency testing programs with testing laboratories from around the world such as CANSPEX for coals, BIMEP for solid biofuels, and UAB for elemental microanalysis.
