Microscopy

The Microscopy Service is a research support unit for researchers from ICB and other Public Research Organizations and Universities and also for industry or any particular. The techniques cover the characterization of a wide array of solid samples like polymers, ceramic, vitro ceramic and silica materials, solid wastes, nanomaterials and biological materials.

The objective of this service is to obtain electron micrographs and X-ray fluorescence microanalysis by energy dispersion measurements and also to obtain topographic images and force maps by Atomic Force Microscopy.
The available techniques are:
-Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) of variable pressure, EDS(Energy Dispersive X-rays spectroscopy)X-ray fluorescence analysis by EDX
-Atomic Force Microscopy
-Sample preparation: Cut, mirror polish and metallic cover with controlled width
